The Scarborough Crew!

The Scarborough "Crew" is back in the building and they are so excited about how great everything looks!  They are busy, busy, busy getting classrooms ready for everyone.  We can't wait to see you all at Sneak-A-Peek on Monday!

We'd also like to introduce you to some of our hard working CREW who have been behind the scenes all summer helping to give us our "Extreme School Makeover!"
We are so grateful for all their hard work!

Meet Ryan, our Foreman.  Ryan has been in construction for 8 years and a foreman for 3 years.
He is the "boss" of our construction project and is in charge of all the workers.
Ryan lives in Louisburg and when he's not at Scarborough, he's working on building his own house!
He loves the opportunity to see changes and improvements in our school!
No hard hat for Ryan in this picture...he's ready to head home after a long week!

Want to know the guy with all the POWER?  Here's Matt!  He's been an electrician for 10 years.
Like Ryan, he thinks it's awesome to see all the improvements in the schools.
Before coming to Scarborough he worked at Pleasant Ridge.
When the job is done here, he'll be heading over to Meadow Lane.
Matt says he likes all the "shocking experiences" he has in his job.  Can you tell he's a funny guy?

Travis is the guy who has brought all the great colors to our school!
He's our painting foreman and has been working for 12 years as a painter.
He likes the freedom and flexibility in his job.  He is originally from Raytown and now lives in Peculiar, MO.
Of all the colors he's painted at Scarborough, he likes the blue color the best!

A Peek at Progress

Peggy & I are back and work and everything is going well with the remodeling.  I sure wish we could give tours during enrollment but blog pictures will have to suffice to keep the workers work, work, working!  On numerous occasions I've thought that my flip flops were probably not the best footwear for all that's going on at school!  Here are a few pictures for you.  I'm loving the splashes of color we're starting to see!

First & Second Grade wet area with a first coat of paint.

Front Office/Reception Area

Principal's Office - I LOVE the windows!

Cabinets are here!  You'll see them in the gym at enrollment.

QUEST Room - former front office & nurse's room.

Ready for LOCKERS!
Hey, Kids!  I bet you are super excited about this!

Classroom Walls are Going Up!

Just a few days after my "sneak peek" from the outside, I got in to see more!
Now you'll have a little more insight to what's happening...
Our classroom teachers will be super excited to see progress in their rooms!
When Scarborough was built, they had an "open classroom" concept.
You can picture what it used to look like without our temporary doors.
WIDE openings to classrooms!

To build new walls, they start by putting up these metal studs on the left.
Then they'll put sheetrock over the studs.
The sheetrock is in a big pile on the right.
(Parents - I'm writing this for our kids knowledge. I'm sure you already know this!)

Here's what the wall looks like now.  More "finishing touches" to come.

You can see how they made the framework for the new door entries.
This is the second grade area.

Peeking in!

I didn't have my keycard with me when I stopped by midweek so I had to peek in to see how things were going!  So exciting to see everything coming together.

Taking a peek at my Principal's Office!

Raising the Roof!

It's been a crazy, busy summer so I'm a little behind on my posts!  I took these pics a few weeks ago.  Pretty incredible how they did this!  We actually saved a portion of the mural as a keepsake of our original entryway!  (Mr. Simpson's idea!)

When I stopped by last week, they were doing a lot of the "behind the scenes work" (heating/ac, wiring, electrical, etc.)  I'm excited to see the progress!  I bet I'll see some walls up!  Come back to the blog in a few days!

The library demo is almost complete and soon our crew will start to BUILD!
Take a look at the transformation!
